Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Haystack Rd was OPEN when we finished, though CLOSED when we started; so we parked at 7 Dwarfs to start and paid $10. Spotted a car at Gale River Trail, plenty of parking. Just missed the road being open for our start.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Wet/Slippery Rock, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable)
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Little River high - no rockhop possible without getting boots wet. We put on water shoes to cross on rocks about 100 ft downstream from trail - good choice
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many blowdowns on North Twin Trail and several large ones on Gale River Trail
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: All good trails for pups. Eva had no problem with Little River crossing; she's a pro at that. She loved the dwindling snow patches and handled all the rock scrambles well.

Comments
Comments: Traversed N & S Twin from 7 Dwarfs to Gale River Trailhead. Looks like we just missed the Haystack Road being open for our start (it was not open at 7:15 am Fri, but open at 4:30 pm). Little River crossing high, as expected, and chose to put on water shoes to rockhop on just slightly submerged rocks about 100 ft downstream from trail crossing. North Twin Trail was totally free of snow/ice until 2 small patches up high. Some limited snow/ice patches on the ridge between N & S Twin but never needed spikes. Bare trail Twinway from S Twin down to the hut and the rest of the way to Gale River Trailhead. Galehead Hut not open yet, but it was open to use the bathrooms and also water spigot on outside of hut to fill water bottles. Good day for the Twins! Brisk winds on the peaks and no bugs until the very last stretch to Gale River trailhead.
