Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at clearing at entrance gate to the Vicki Bunnell Preserve. Gate was open, but driving further may not be suitable for most cars. All cars in group were able to navigate to the gate without issues, including the low clearance vehicles (one was a Prius). Space for multiple cars.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Road walk and herd path heading to Gore were quite muddy in sections. Additionally, the very large, and impressive beaver dam has resulted in flooding of sections of the road/trail. Conditions may vary with weather.

Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: As expected, terrible. Swarming every time we stopped, even after applying all the bug repellent stuff. That's what bug nets are for.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Old torn gaiter and a deflated torn mylar balloon!!!! Packed both out.

Comments
Comments: Started by walking up the road to wards Gore; used a combination of old wood roads, and herd paths to get most of distance towards summit. Then, navigated through open woods and steeper terrain to the summit and easy to locate register. Headed to Bunnell using many herd paths (like a moose superhighway); even followed it through the previously mentioned (in other reports) blow down patch around the COL. The tightest and brushy stretch of the hike was found on the ascent to Bunnell, but it was short lived as other moose herd paths were located to follow. Found an older moose shed (left that for the smaller forest animals) and some old large animal bones (creepy). Remainder of hike was off / on herd paths and bushwhacking to smaller the summits through mostly open forests. Summit of Pleasant was marked by a broken half sign, and unfortunately no register; maybe the next visitor will bring a new one. Along the way there were numerous small mountain meadows filled with erythronium (trout lily), and a few spring beauties. Spotted the first of the year blooming lady slipper. Thanks to Mark S and BW for a great hike.
