Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Hall's Ledge, NH
Trails
Trails: Hutmen's Trail, Carter Notch Road, Hall's Ledge Trail, bushwhack, Dana Place XC ski trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, May 27, 2024
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I parked at Hutmen's Tr TH on 16. There are just a few spots on the side of the road here. If you're doing this loop you can just as easily park up at Rocky Branch TH for more room.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Nothing major. There were a few large blowdowns on Hutmen's and I took off the pack at least twice. Some minor brush descending Hall's Ledge. On Hall's Ledge Tr there is one trail intersection that didn't have any hiking related markings but plenty of XC markings. As you head up from Carter Notch Rd and hit The Orchard on your left, head into the woods up the Wildcat Valley Ski Trail (this is the same as Hall's Ledge Tr). The bushwhack and XC trails were rough and muddy as to be expected, but easy to follow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Mine had fun, lots of water and mud.
Bugs
Bugs: Rain kept them away.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I lost a pair of blue-rimmed eyeglasses somewhere on the bushwhack, Dana Place XC trail or Hutmen's Tr. RIP.

Comments
Comments: With a short bushwhack* to avoid a road walk on 16, I made a nice rainy day loop of the trails mentioned above. Really pretty woods throughout, but no views. I didn't see anyone else today.
