Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Several, and all easy!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Great job dealing with recent logging. Lower level boggy areas have good bridges; but the higher levels need replacement, as many are broken and worn out. Thanks for all you do.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see anything saying no. If you do bring yours, remember we are here on the kindness of others and have your dog act accordingly. AND WATCH FOR TICKS!! I picked up one.
Bugs
Bugs: Skeeters and blackflies, not too bad. TICKS, not that many, but it only takes one... Gorgeous butterflies

Comments
Comments: First of all, thanks to landowners who allow access. Secondly, thanks to the AMC and STC for all these trails in this area.

I liked the turnstile at the beginning! Lovely, level walk between woodlands and cleared area. Slippery leaves are in the steep section. Some of the trail was not really a trail - it was gravel roads. Some folks wont like this, but I enjoyed the contrast between the woodsy areas and the wide open spaces. Also, so many bluets and violets in the open areas. Some painted trillium and lady slippers in the woods. Nice beaver pond (actually heard a resident crashing around) and then the work starts. Steep climb to the Gentian Pond Shelter. Great views from the shelter. .2 miles more, you come to the Mahoosuc Trail (AT). Other trails branch off of Austin Brook, looking forward to checking them out.

And no doggy bags! Good work, people!
