| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Mid-sized dirt parking area at the end of Mullen Rd with room for over a dozen cars. I was the only one there at 6:30 and 7:15pm. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Trivial |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The trails were blazed by the color of their name in the guidebook. I don’t recall frequency but they weren’t hard to follow. Other than an old, trivial stepover on South Summit Trail, not far from the summit, I do not recall any blowdowns. |

| Bugs: |
They were out but not too bad with bug spray. |

| Comments: |
Fifth and final little SNH redline clean-up hike of the day after Mt Caesar, Bear’s Den Natural Area, Pond and Ravine trail by Monadnock, and Summit Loop on Pack Monadnock. While the guidebook can make the hike seem difficult out to follow, it was not. While getting to the summit wasn’t particularly scenic, I loved the summit area and the way down the mountain which is shown as South Summit Trail on Gaia. The loop could easily be hiked in the reverse direction. Though the guidebook doesn’t make it terribly clear, you do follow the same trail out that you came in on and the two meet where East Summit Trail diverges right. I believe the trail was mostly dry with some mud but don’t recall terribly well. I followed the alternate Blue Trail out to make a little loop at the end instead. |
