Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The only notable blowdowns I recall are a large tree down on Bald Knob Trail a short distance above the junction with Orange Trail, a small birch down at the junction of Bald Knob and Orange trails, and a widowmaker on Orange Trail about 0.15 mi. south of Bald Knob Trail. All of the blazing is in good shape.

Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitoes were nasty down low and black flies were swarming up high. Thankfully there was some wind today but they were still a nuisance when stopped.

Comments
Comments: Bald Knob and Mt. Crosby the long way. I much prefer this approach than coming in from the Cockermouth Forest trailhead.

The trails started out fairly wet from the overnight rain but were drying out quickly. On the way up I took a detour to explore Hardy Rd. and Rogers Rd. The former appears to see some regular use. The latter was very muddy.

Once up on the ridge again there were some areas of wet ledge but nothing crazy. Everything that was exposed to the sun was drying out fast.

Great views from all the outlooks as usual. Aside from folks walking their dogs near the trailhead, I didn't see anyone.
