Comments
Comments: Started at 7:30am with the 9 minute bike ride down to Camp Dodge. Was pleasantly surprised that there were no bugs during the cool morning, but that continued throughout the day even when it heated up a bit. I'm starting to worry about the bugs, hope they are ok...haven't had a miserable bug infested hike yet this year. Had the trail to myself until the summit of S. Carter where someone had pitched their tent 5' off the trail and 2' from the summit cairn. Lunch on Mt. Hight was great as always. The climb down into Carter Notch then back up to Wildcat A took a lot of the starch out of me and made the ups/downs on WRT a bit of a grind. Was looking forward to the easy walk down the ski trails but they have dumped loose golf ball to softball sized crushed gravel along much of the way, which made the descent pretty tedious in the places where you couldn't stay on the grass.
