Snagged a spot in the Hale Brook lot as someone pulled out around 10:30. But there weren’t that many cars parked along the road (the rain probably kept people at bay). |

| Comments: |
We had intermittent sunshine on Hale Brook until — literally — we stepped out of the trees and into the summit clearing to have lunch, at which point the skies opened up and we got soaked. Then, as soon as we began to descend Lend-A-Hand, it went back to being intermittently sunny. Just before we got to the hut it started pouring buckets again, which lasted for about half an hour. We got a cup of lukewarm tea at the hut and waited it out. Then everything was fine for the rest of the hike.
Ran into a couple who did the loop in reverse and had the exact same time as us — we left at the same time, passed each other on Lend-A-Hand, and then arrived back at the parking lot about the same time. They were going to do Willey, Field, and Tom and then it started raining so they googled “best nh48 for rainy days”… |
