Comments
Comments: I got an early start and only saw two other solo hikers today, one going up and another coming down. I did not try the Engine Hill bushwhack but I did 'schwack the corner off where Rocky Branch meets Isolation Trail. I would not recommend this without some type of navigation as I lost the visible trail in both directions. GPS showed total mileage at 12.8 with this schwack. Trail has reputation of water with rock hopping and there was plenty of that today. Rocks were not submerged so there always seemed to be something to step on, plenty of opportunity for slipping. A few areas of muddiness that I found my way around. I crossed the Rocky Branch Brook a couple more times than necessary (there was a cairn on the other side of the brook near a designated tent site location.
