Comments
Comments: There appears to be two main herd paths leaving from Black Pond. As we worked around the pond, a pile of logs suggested taking a left leading to a herd path moving away from the pond. This path eventually Ts with another path that ends at Lincoln Brook. On the return we did not take herd path we came in on and continued straight ahead. We discovered that had we continued beyond the log pile we would have reached this other herd path which was much easier than the one we took on the way in.

Went up the slide which is extremely steep since it follows the fall line with few breaks. There are a few small cairns to mark the best route. Returned via the Brutus Bushwhack. It was easy to follow except for one section on streambed rock where it seemed to make a sharp left but actually went straight ahead. Other than that one spot there were no other confusing parts of the trail. The few short sections where it follows the fall line had slippery roots. But most of it angles down the mountain with a manageable descent. Having descended via the slide several times, Brutus BW was much easier and safer. Descending via the slide is slow going and not recommended.
