I recollect a widowmaker on Benton above the viewpoint. Checkdam steps on Beaver Brook above the shelter are undermined on the downhill sides and will fail soon if not remedied. |

Some black flies and mosquitoes on lower Benton and Tunnel Brook, but generally minimal. |

| Comments: |
Trails were generally dry. Not much mud or wet ledge to contend with.
Herd path to Mt. Blue is very obvious (approaches from the west; it's good that there's a herd path because dispersed bushwhacking would have more impact on the otherwise nice woods around the summit).
Moosilauke summit was busy, but it was peaceful if one retreated down the Beaver Brook a few hundred feet.
Benton was fairly quiet.
Tunnel Brook Trail is initially a smooth road walk, but the amount of damage from the storm years ago is quite amazing to see. Quite a few circuitous relos.
Beautiful sunny day with temperatures touching 70 at the base and a little bit of a breeze up top. |
