snowshoes got a free ride today..overnight chill left yesterdays soft snow a packed out sidewalk. Valerie used spikes to the summit with care..I put on Hillsounds at the lower ledge and they did great. Lots of blue ice on the ledgy areas but trail in between hard pack and a fast track. Most snow off the trees which was nice.
Views from the lower ledges but mostly in the cloud with some light blowing snow above 3500 feet had the summit socked in pretty much. Summit rock a glaze of ice and windy..we broke out the side path to the east view which had no wind but not much to see either. Took our time on the icy spots on descent but still made great time back to the car. Saw one other hiker today who used spikes and mini cramps. Presis started to clear on descent which was excellent..Great day out with Valerie |
