Trail Maintenance Notes: A few older stepovers on Carlton Notch otherwise trails are in great shape
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No water on our route except when coming down the Carlton Notch trail; some canines might need a bost getting up the south viewpoint ledge other wise a great canine hike.
Bugs
Bugs: Out in force in every shape and size; they were especially dense on the Crescent Ridge trail so bring plenty of bug spray; a reminder ticks are still out there - found three crawling on me once back down

Comments
Comments: A great little treks with a little excitement - up Mount Crescent trail across on Crescent Ridge and down Carlton Notch just shy of 4.5 miles in all. Trials were all nice and dry as were the rock ledges. As noted no water until you start heading back down. Good footing all the way though there was still a surprising amount of leaf cover left on some spots of Carlton Notch.

Mount Crescent doesn't kid around as it heads straight up the mountain, steep but nothing too challenging and a nice little ledge scramble to get you to the South Viewpoint. Views of the northern presidentials were just spectacular today. Views from the northern viewpoint were just as good and we appreciated the little bench. Crescent Ridge is a nice leisurely woods walk across the ridge and the Carlton Notch provides a nice gradual descent back to the trailhead. Trails do have bit of a wild feel to them; only saw two other hikers today. For those who haven't ventured here it is well with the trip.
