| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked at the AMC Cardigan Lodge Area. Room for maybe a couple dozen cars here. The road in is dirt and there are signs warning how rough it is (I think this is from last year) but low clearance vehicles should be fine and I didn't find it bad at all. |

I don't think there was anything that wasn't bridged and water was low anyway. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
While the upper part of Holt Trail is not appropriate for dogs, this section would be fine. |

I'm sure they were out and I used bug spray. |

Holt Trail is blazed in yellow. I don't recall the frequency but it's very easy to follow in this section. Same with Holt-Clark Cutoff/Cathedral Forest Trail but not as well travelled.
Well, I thought that I'd finished my redlining of Cardigan on 6/1 but it turns out that I missed the tiny sliver of Holt-Clark Cutoff/Cathedral Forest Trail that is between Grand Jct and Vistamont Trail so I went back today to get it. Though in reality I think it's longer, Gaia had it at a mere 92ft...you can imagine my feelings :P This was my 2nd hike of the day after redlining the lower section of Lincoln Trail on Kearsarge South. Luckily though, this was a very quick and easy hike. The trails were mostly dry though there's at least one wet, mucky section of Holt Trail that I recall. Not too many others out this time of day. I don't have exact Gaia stats but it should have been about 2.2mi with 400ft of gain and it probably took me just under an hour. |
