Right above lower Bruin on valley way there is a maybe 12" diameter tree across the trail that has cause a lot of erosion around it on both sides that needs to be removed. Star Lake needs to be brushed out towards the lower section. |

Well I needed to take a phone call at 8 am and was hoping for phone service. I had no issue and was above treeline on airline when I needed to do so. The wind had picked up when I was in the exposed area and I had to put on my wind jacket. Crazy how the temps have been so high and then again so low. Saw only 1-2 people on airline which was clearly the better option to stay away from people. Once I hit airline junction with gulfside, I saw maybe 15 people heading up. It was a short visit on the summit and decided to head down star lake as it has been 10 years since I have done it and maybe there will be a second redline one day who knows. I was surprised at how many people had come up this way and then saw an amc crew heading up and hoping they were there to brush the trail out but only time will tell. Went in the hut for a snack before I summitted Madison. The sign has returned to the summit yay! What a nice day to grid out June. I headed down and saw many many more people heading up before I hit the parking lot. The road did not have as many cars on it as I expected but it still was only a Tuesday. |
