| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Reel Brook trailhead parking lot is a nightmare. Don't recommend it. The road to it is dirt/gravel and very narrow. Then the lot is washed out and full of large rocks that can cause some cars to bottom out. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Crossings on Reel Brook and Mount Kinsman trail are all low and manageable. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Great work by Bruce Richards on Mount Kinsman Trail. Reel Brook is little-used, but in decent shape. Clear of blowdowns. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
One friendly pup with his family. |
| Bugs: |
Windy and rainy, so not a factor. |
| Lost and Found: |
There were poles with pink sunglasses hanging on them at the junction of Mount Kinsman Trail and Kinsman Ridge. Had a lunch break there and no one came to claim them, so not sure if they were left behind. |

| Comments: |
Moody day, but a nice and unique, but steep approach to the Kinsmans by going up Reel Brook and then up Kinsman Ridge from the south. Provides a steep, rocky ascent, but with some nice views down to Lincoln and over to Cannon and down to Gordon Pond. Eliza Brook Shelter is well-kept and Eliza Brook is beautiful with several cascades. |
