Saw a couple sweet young pups on Great Gulf Link, one was a chuweenie Aussie! These trails (well below talus of the northern presidential range) are great for dogs. |

This is day three of a three day report. The final day!
We packed up camp above the Six Husband/Wamsutta trails, and found the water levels of the West Branch Peabody have dropped tremendously. We hoped to cross here earlier in our trip plans, but the weekend rainfall prevented us from finding a way reasonable and safe enough.
We made quick work again of the Great Gulf Trail, finding even bigger improvements on the Chandler Brook crossing. Ran into a group of ladies on their way to Six Husband as well, and were happy to provide them with the promising crossing report. Encountered a few AT nobo’s on our way across the Osgood Cutoff. One had started from Key West, and intended to go all the way to Canada! Osgood Trail is in great shape, as are the gentle lower grades of Great Gulf Trail. Had a few laughs with good folks heading up, and learned new things to work into our packs for the future. Nordic_gal split off to get the car from the Great Gulf lot, while I continued down Great Gulf Link. This trail is in good shape, and one bridge that seems to have washed out may be under repair? The tributary is hoppable now. |
