Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Lot was almost full when I arrived somewhat late in the am. Not a huge lot for sure and fills up fast on a nice day.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues, could have rock-hopped the log crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in decent shape. The Dicey's Mill trail was being worked on by a USFS employee and its in great shape--nice work!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Couplae pups on Walden trail headed to Passa...almost got to keep one who left his group briefly to hike with me. Alvin was his name, like the chipmunk. They just did the out and back and probably would have needed assistance on the Whiteface ledge had they gone that way.
Bugs
Bugs: Down low was buggy but not higher up, and there was a nice breeze which helped. Didn't need dope, just kept moving.

Comments
Comments: I decided to take the look out spur below Passa, which seemed like it would never end. This spur had the most mud and a few blow-downs too. Saw what looked like a falcon but couldn't be certain. Pretty nice spot even at the tail end of the hike when I just want to get off the trails. The spring near the trail junction of Walden and the old shelter site was running strong with ice-cold water, very nice! Every time I pass this spring I fill up and have never experienced any problems.
