Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The main branch of Brackett Brook was easy rock hopping. All the other crossings were even easier, sometimes even dry.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Blowdown about 0.5 mile up Mt. Cube Trail. Another one a little below the point where North Peak Side Trail goes off to the right. Other than that, the trail is in excellent shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fine for dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: Some mosquitoes, especially down low, but not at all bad; I used some picaridin, and I'm not sure I got bitten at all. I didn't feel the need to put on my head net.

Comments
Comments: The White Mountain Guide mentions a "ladder ascending a slipper ledge" on Mt. Cube Trail on the way up to the ridge, but we didn't see one, unless it meant the gradually ascending wooden steps a little before reaching the ridge.

It is worth visiting both the South Peak and the North Peak - they are quite different.
