|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Buttress trail around treeline to just below is in terrible condition. It's overgrown such that you can't see your feet; meanwhile you need to carefully place your feet, rock to rock. Definitely got scratched up on my legs, and the going was very slow. Needs a serious brushing! |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Only saw a couple up near the peaks |
|
| Bugs: |
Weird wasp things right at the summit of Adams, and not really even 10' below. Someone got one into their shirt while I was there. |

| Comments: |
Camped for two nights at Osgood Tentsite, a peaceful place. Hiked up to Madison, lunch at the Hut, then via Star Lake to Adams. I went around to Thunderstorm Jct and back around to the Hut to give myself the gentle way down (didn't want to go back down Star Lake Tr). Descended into the Wilderness via Buttress, which was very difficult and slow going. Unique views of the Great Gulf from the talus field along Buttress made it worth the struggle. Beautiful area once down into the forest. Perfect if a bit humid weather - the rain held off and was torrential the next morning. |
