Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The 'back' row was the only one with open spots at 9:45. No one was parked along the Kanc when I arrived.

Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: even though the trails themselves were wet from a recent rain, the crossings were easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Since most of the issues are on Black Pond Bushwhack, and to a lesser extent Brutus, I'm not sure mentioning anything will be worthwhile. But I will say that there was nothing seriously impeding hiking, anywhere.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Surprisingly, not dogs seen today. #Easy trails for pups, and that includes the slide.
Bugs
Bugs: Pretty hungry and annoying. This hike requires bug dope IMO.

Comments
Comments: Great day for the Owl! Lots of folks felt the same way, I stopped counting hikers after 25. This is my third time up to the Owl, always up the slide and down Brutus. To be honest, I will never go down Brutus again, unless the slide is iced over. I don't see ANY advantage of taking Brutus on the descent this time of year. The slide was dry, dry, dry and most of the below tree line trails were not. Also, when will the Black Pond Bushwhack become an official trail? I doubt anyone has gone the long way since this bushwhack was established decades ago.
