| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
On one hand, Grassy Brook Trail does need some brushing to open up the corridor. On the other hand, the brushiness kinda fits with the trail's wild character. Several scattered blowdowns on both of the major trails. The blazing on Beaver Pond Loop needs to be redone; the corridor is a bit unclear in places by the beaver pond. |

Dare I say they are subsiding? Not bad today. I did pick up two ticks from the brushy trails. |

Revisiting the Kroka Expeditions trails in Marlow. The star attraction here, to me anyway, is Grassy Brook Trail, which extends into the backcountry for a couple miles. Very remote and wilderness-ey feeling. Also super quiet with no people. I like.
A side path off Grassy Brook Trail, about 0.1 mi. long, leads to an excellent ledge overlooking a wide, marshy area of Grassy Brook known as Duck Hole. This area also has some neat glacial erratics.
Despite signage indicating that the trail continued 0.4 mi. further to Baine Rd., the end of Grassy Brook Trail appeared to be at a logging road. I looked up and down the road and didn't see a continuation, so I guess that extension hasn't been built yet. Or I missed something very obvious. |
