| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Imp and N Carter were in great shape. I was surprised how narrow Carter-Moriah was in spots, but otherwise fine with lots of bog bridges. One blowdown at the low end of Stony Brook. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
The descent from North Carter on Carter-Moriah was steep - way too steep for dogs IMO. Not only is it steep, but it’s wet and it looked like an area that is wet more times than not. |

| Bugs: |
Not an issue. |

| Comments: |
The climb to the Imp viewpoint was steady. Nothing too strenuous, but with the very high humidity it wasn’t easy. The North Carter trail was mostly wet rock and an unrelenting incline. It felt longer than it is. As mentioned, the descent on Carter-Moriah from North Carter was a slow hands-and-feet effort in many spots. I tossed my hiking poles forward and down several times so that I could grab trees or slippery rocks to make it down. I like this kind of scramble, but was surprised how long it was necessary. The trail then narrowed a bit and the bog bridges were plentiful. Checked out the Imp shelter (very nice) and tent sites. Stony Brook was a nice, long descent that eased from top to bottom. I hadn’t planned on it, but I tacked on the Wellness trail at the nearby Ranger station. It’s a flat, lollipop loop that runs along the river for a short stretch. I didn’t love it, but it was also an extra mile at the end of a long, hot, sweaty day, so maybe it was me. |
