Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Chose this one because of the low water tables and hit it spot on. All crossings were pretty straightforward with a bit of searching and thought for the first two. All the rest were fairly easy, with a few that just took a little care. I had to wear my 2 year old Hoka Speedgoat 4’s today as they are still waterproof and worked great, as getting feet wet on this hike is inevitable. Unfortunately I had to leave my fairly new $170 Speedgoat 5’s at home thanks to some genius at Hoka who felt they need to change the shoe and make the latest edition about as waterproof as a colander.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: An over-under variety blowdown just before the Emerald Trail junction heading down Israel Ridge. Nothing major.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: None
Bugs
Bugs: Surprisingly very few today. Some tiny buzzers in the latter half of IRT.

Comments
Comments: A perfect day for this hike. Only saw a pair of trail runners going up Castle Ravine and the same pair passed me about half way down IRT after looping the Cornice. Wow, they were moving on some pretty rough terrain. Lots of folks on Gulfside today. Castle Ravine Trail is in really good shape right now.
