Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Sugarloaf (Groveton), NH
Trails
Trails: Sugarloaf Mountain Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, July 14, 2024
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Immediately after turning left into the driveway, before reaching the private residence, there is a little parking area on the left that can hold maybe two cars side-by-side; I presume that that's where one is supposed to park. There is also a little parking in pull-offs off Nash Stream Rd. nearby.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None worth mentioning
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Near the beginning of the trail, there is a 4-way junction where Sugarloaf Mtn. Trail goes straight, but there is a sign saying to turn left (maybe aimed at snowmobiles?). It would be helpful here to have better signage, perhaps a sign saying "Hiker Trail to Sugarloaf Mtn." pointing straight ahead. Beyond that point, there is a section in a streambed with a lot of running water; it'd be nice if it were possible to divert more of it off the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fine for dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitoes, but not bad. Flies, but the kind that eat food instead of biting people.
