Comments
Comments: Followed Greenleaf up to 3000', then had to make a decision of how soon to dash into the woods. Many have had varying success waiting until about 3050' before heading up via a SE approach. I became hesitant with the drop-down from the trail increasing as I continued NE on Greenleaf, so I backtracked to 3000 to start my whack. Overall it was OK, until I came to a clearing with many ferns and a clear herd path heading SW. Against better judgement I followed that SW instead of heading towards the North away from potential cliff/krummholz issues. After getting cornered into a fetal position, I backtracked back to the fern field and headed North and picked up one of many herd paths that led to the main "route" at 3200' that led to the summit. The ledges near the summit are spectacular, a beautiful day. Found the canister, signed in, and continued a fairly easy descent back to Greenleaf. The main herd path generally disappears around that 3200' mark, and on this descent I continued on a much more E to ENE bearing to 3000' where I switched to due S to pick up the trail again. Much better woods this way. Great morning!
