| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
There are really two parking "lots". One is at the trailhead (end of street) and another slightly larger one just a hundred or so feet away (this is directly across from the foot bridge, near homes). |

A few blowdowns to easily duck under. A few trees already taken care of. No concerns! |

Lots of ledges to navigate for pups. Did see a few medium size dogs that managed them okay, but it could be tough for some. |

| Comments: |
After reading "The Book", I thought we would have to cross the footbridge. We did not have to. Also, the trail starts off "flat" as I read in other comments- however - I'd consider it "flat footing" (not a lot of rocks or roots, soft dirt), but there's still elevation gain to be had. Beautiful views and weather this last weekend on Mount Surprise & Moriah summit. There are a good amount ups and downs in the second part of the trail. The book also mentions you can see the top of Moriah when you get to 4.2 miles. At this time of year, it's NOT very obvious due to full tree coverage. I just happened to stop for a breath and noticed the view to the top - but you can easily miss it. Overall a nice walk in the woods and it's less difficult than many other 4000s. |
