| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked at the northern end of South Ridge Trail and the eastern end of Boulder Trail at the small parking area at the drivable end of Round Pond Rd if coming in from the west (Reservation Rd). The parking area is very rough and has a large boulder in it. A tree also took out part of my brake light on the way out. I think you can park on the north side of the road too which may be a little less rough. Reservation Rd is in good shape and should be doable for any car but Round Pond Rd is rougher. Some parts where mid clearance will be better at the very least and low clearance cars may struggle or scrape. |

I was on a road. That said, there were some white blazes on it. The road I was on is not marked but it's got a map of the state park on both ends.
I thought I'd finished redlining Pawtuckaway awhile ago but upon closer examination, I hadn't redlined the South Ridge Connector (which I hiked after this), and, arguably, you should walk Round Pond Rd between the end of Round Pond Trail and Round Pond as the guidebook sort of describes it as a 2.2mi spur. The road walk was pleasant enough but has lots of ups and downs. I parked at Round Pond and hiked the road in the reverse direction. On my way back, I took the unnamed road shown on Gaia 1/4mi east of North Mtn Bypass to shortcut a long turn in Round Pond Rd and avoid some PUDS. |
