| Water Crossing Notes: |
A few were tricky to keep the feet dry but nothing sketchy. Worst one was right before Pond of Safety Rd. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Several bog bridges out and trail is hard to follow in some places due to overgrowth.
One particularly tough place to navigate on the Four Soldiers Tr that was noted in the WMNF guide. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Mine had fun, lots of mud but also lots of walk through brush so make sure tick protection is up to date. Plenty of water available. |
| Bugs: |
Swarming but no bites. I had bugspray on. |

A tracing loop on these lesser used trails. You have to pay attention to where you are going and your feet will be wet and muddy. This was a fun trip and felt very remote, especially as I got towards Pond of Safety. We saw one moose near Pond of Safety and moose poop throughout.
If I did this again, I'd head up Sargent Path over Mt Randolph and then down to Pond of Safety, returning via Four Soldiers and Vyron D Lowe Tr. I did the opposite and IMHO the descent of Vyron Lowe would have been nicer vs Sargent. |
