Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One or two minor crossings with very low water - easy rock hopping
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Large blowdown early in this route, several smaller ones.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Several friendly dogs seen on around Madison Hut area. Would not recommend dogs on King Ravine Trail or Subway (use another route - there's plenty)
Bugs
Bugs: Minor mosquitoes at very low elevation in certain trail sections. Some kind of fly/hornet type of bug on Adams and Madison summits that were quite a bother, but largely bug-free in-between the two extremes.

Comments
Comments: Ideal weather yesterday clear and mild with low wind. Nice hike but mostly uneventful below treeline aside from a large blowdown to detour over or around. King Ravine Trail did not disappoint - excellent views and very fun. We went through subway and ice caves (both leave and rejoin King Ravine Trail) which were both well worth it. There's still large chunks of ice visible in ice caves in one or two sections if you look carefully and the chill there is very refreshing. Be careful near the very top of King Ravine trail where there is loose dirt, gravel, and small rocks - it would be easy to send rocks down at people below you if you aren't careful. Tons of people on trail yesterday but only a few on King Ravine Trail. The only bother were those pesky fly/hornet type bugs at the two peaks which made sticking around there unpleasant. I did not recognize the exact type -they apparently bite, but we got lucky and they were only landing on us. Slippery rock on small sections of Valley Way descent, but not bad - most everywhere else was completely dry with the exception of moisture in subway and ice caves.
