Many friends of the old man and the saw gathered for a memorial hike to honor one of the White Mountains finest men. Maybe a few dozen of us made our way up in smaller groups and a few on different trails. Gorge Brook Trail, overall, is quite dry, but still had its requisite wet spots and soft but not terribly deep mud pits. It was hazy so the views weren't as great as they could have been but we weren't in cloud and temps were quite comfortable on the summit and not awful on the way up or down either. Only started to bake once we were out in the sun for a tailgate afterward. Thanks to everyone who tolerated our crowd and picture taking on the summit especially to the fine young man that took our group's photo. We were very grateful to everyone who showed up to remember and share stories about our dear friend. Thanks for everything you taught me, Larry; you'll be dearly missed ya no good, good for nuthin', lazy slacker! |
