Mainly writing this for maintenance. There are a handful of trees that pose no issues in summer, but will be an issue in the winter. They are all small diameter leaners - should pose no issue for even a small saw |

A FINE day in Asa's neck o the woods. On the way in, in the area of Tucker Brook Road (Bridal Veil Falls) was a two year old cub hanging out on the side of the road. Did get out of my car and make him unwelcome. He ran off. Great conditions despite the thick humid air. Mostly dry from the evening priors rain. Mostly socked in all day which had the added benefit of not making the temps even more disgusting. Once on ridge there was a slight hint of a breeze and that made it lovely. Usual wet/muddy sections. Ran into The Grey Ghost on the summit of South Kinsman who appeared out of the socked in clouds wielding two staffs, like a cross between Gandolph and the guy from Unsolved Mysteries from the 20 years ago emerging from a foggy alley in a trenchcoat. Wild. He is thru hiking and was exasperated about how rapidly the footing changed - and how crazy we where do do this for fun. He asked how long the footing was like this "it gets worse before it gets worse, and then you're in Baxter!" That's one of two checkmarks for August (3rd). 326/366 - this list will teach you patience |
