Parking/Access Road Notes: I parked roadside at the start of Crawford Path across from the Highland Center. This way I could pop out of the woods right at my car.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing of Abenaki Brook on Edmands Path was no problem today.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Both Crawford and Edmands have rock steps and water bars that are failing due to extensive erosion. The water bars that were intact need to be dug out again. Both trails have some brushy sections but nothing crazy. Edmands also has a lot of trail creep happening.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I met Carly who was on her first big hike and she seemed to be having a grand day. Plenty of water around right now for the pups.
Bugs
Bugs: Zero. Zip. Nada.

Comments
Comments: Needing to do a hike to simply hike and not collect data, I chose this loop that I hadn't done in quite some time.

I wanted to get the walk on Mt. Clinton Rd. done first, so I cut over to the road via Crawford Connector and then walked to the Edmands Path trailhead. Edmands was mostly damp down lower but became wetter higher up with a few good mud pits and areas of slippery ledge. The waterfall near the top of the trail was flowing and the scrambles above that were quite wet.

Above treeline conditions were dry. Along the ridge, conditions went back and forth between wet and dry.

Crawford Path was pretty much wet all the way down from Pierce. Lots of mud and running water; a couple sections were essentially stream beds. Water is draining off Pierce across and into the trail, which is not helping the erosion issues.

Fortunately, the weather forecast was fairly spot on with mostly sunny skies and cooler temps. So views were great!

People were out enjoying the day but it was never crowded. Saw a few parties headed up to the hut including a group of kids with their chaperone, all of whom appeared to be having a great time.
