| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Having seen prior report about ore hill rd being posted, I knew I might need to get creative. I can confirm ore hill rd is still signed as private road, residents only. I also drive up sunset hill rd, which, while not posted is 100% residential with no where to pull off w/o being on someone's lawn. Would also need to traipse through someone's yard to get into the woods - not a good option. I also drove down to the bend in toad hill rd, but that area was clearly posted.
Easton Rd to the west of the peak has good looking, unposted woods, but not great roadside parking. I ended up pulling off on a bank, with my car at more of an angle than I would have liked, on the west side of Easton road, south of the horse farm and north of a logged area, just south of west of the peak.
Worst case there was a decent pull off at the easton rd / toad hill rd intersection one could park at, then road walk north. |

Once parked, I went east into the woods, taking care not to stray too close to a residence to the south of my line. Before too long, I intersected a clearcut area, then another, then an intersection of forest roads, one of which may have been the continuation of ore hill rd connecting down to toad hill rd. From the intersection I went straight up towards the peak, in very steep (but short and open) woods. Before too long, I stumbled upon another older clearcut near the summit. I had seen what looked like a cut line on the north side or Ore Hill from a viewpoint on Garnet Hill earlier in the day and imagine that cut led to this point. No trouble finding the pill bottle marking the summit.
On my descent, I followed my line back to the forest road intersection, then back to the logging areas. I caught another forest road that took me all the way back to Easton road, putting me out just south of the farm and north of my car. If I were doing this again, I would start up this road.
