Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Many slots available at Layfatte Place Northbound when we arrived at around 8:30-ish. Don't know if that held up in the next 60 minutes. But if the crowds we saw on the trails were any indication, I'd guess not. Our lot had open spots upon our return. Southbound lots still appeared to be jammed as we later headed South on Rt93.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Generally not an issue. One big step to a small boulder on the penultimate fallin' water's crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Several blowdowns on fallin' waters in want of a choppin', but all are easily surmounted. Lower part of Bridle Path is really starting to look so much better w/ all the major granite step, wall and potential trail rerouting in the offing. Cheers to the trail crews!!!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Just a few. But glad to see them!
Bugs
Bugs: A few. But, thankfully, none seem to be interested in human hemoglobin.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Maybe an abandoned t-shirt and sneaker/sock on lower Bridle Path. Otherwise, nothing seen.

Comments
Comments: Great day on the mountain, but very crowded for a Thursday. We joked that given Friday/Saturday's dismal rain forecast, Thursday was the new Saturday. ;-)

Started with sun and a few wispy, high clouds. By the time we reached Little Haystack, more clouds and partly sunny. In the distance, Big W was largely in clear until we walked back from North Peak to Lafayette, by then, Big W had its head in a cloud, but other presies reamained in clear. By the time we reached AMC Greenleaf Hut, sun was fading fast, clouds coming in from west.

Felt a few sprinkles midway down Bridle Path, but by the time we reached parking lot, it was showering. We made our getaway in light rain. Couldn't have planned it any better!

We met two very kind and eloquent ladies who allowed us let us (my nephew and I) go down the Agonies ahead of them. I thing they had stayed at Greenleaf Hut the night before and heard the hut master Dorothy's geology talk that night. We briefly chatted about the rock in the Agonies before heading down. Wished we had spoken more w/ them. Giving a shout out to them and our thanks. Happy trails!

Had a minor, very trival mishap with an open cooler filled with water, ice, polar seltzers & cokes as we turned sharply from parking lot onto 93, with contents dumping onto backseat floor. Easily mopped up and grateful that was the only thing that literally went sideways today! :-)
