Connor Road is closed at the bottom/fork. Completely washed out, see pics on FB 52WAV page. Added an extra mile to the already long day. We just parked directly in front of the big "ROAD CLOSED" sign. We were the only ones there. |

This particular hike definitely rivals some of the 4000. Upon discovering Connor road was washed out (no surprise) we soldiered on and put all the miles behind us. Of course the old log road walking was unremarkable, but the upper parts of Shelburne & then Kenduskeag were incredibly rough & rugged. Finally breaking out of the woods to a beautiful breeze was excellent! Gaining close to 3000 ft. elevation no joke! We only met a group of 3 all day. The solitude was immesurable. This is why we chose the road less travelled. Pics will be posted on the FB 52 WAV page. Hike On! |
