Comments
Comments: I was super-excited to explore the rerouted Welton Falls Trail (south branch) - it's super-pretty and thankfully doesn't run too long on the grassy logging roads. Parts run run along a gorgeous streambed that has deep pools. I could just imagine a moose or 2 enjoying the pools... then I looked down and saw some super-YUGE moose footprints. How cool is that? Great views from power lines - I had lunch at one of the tower footings the trail crosses. I might be concerned about ticks if I were concerned about them at all... .but I always roll the dice and just wear shorts. Didn't find any in the car when I left so let's call it good!!!

Backing up in terms of what I did, I went south on the North branch of the Welton Falls Trail, missed the left turn off the initial logging road/sno mo trail and took the snowmo trail to the col where the trail crosses. From there, I was on the Elwell TRail, then continued out and back on Welton Falls Trail (south) - I went only a short distance on Gove Rd to the big cairn and turned around there figuring I could find that from the other (south) end at another time. From there, I retraced my steps northbound back to car. I would guess 5-6 miles RT.
