| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Gale River Trail parking lot was a ~half full when I arrived at 6:30AM. Only had 5-6 cars remaining when I left around 4pm. I think most people were camping or staying in the hut. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
No issue so long as you don't mind stepping on a few submerged rocks. Gale River was running a bit higher/faster than I expected. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There are two very large, fresh, leafy blowdowns blocking the whole trail on the Gale River Trail. The first, larger one is 0.5 mile from the trailhead. The second is 3 miles from the trailhead.
The North Twin Spur is also a bit overgrown with encroaching spruces in the first half mile near the South Twin. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
| Bugs: |
No swarming but there were bugs around. I kept feeling like I was getting bit without finding the culprits. |
| Lost and Found: |
Found a blue/teal Asteryx fleece non-hooded zip a half mile from the South Twin on the North Twin Spur. Left hanging on a branch in that location as I wasn't sure whether the person who lost it was still on the mountain. |

| Comments: |
Everything was wetter than I was expecting for August. Gale River Trail had a fair number of mostly avoidable mud patches. The mud got especially bad on the North Twin Spur where there were many big pools of thick sucking mud that were challenging to step over.
Mud aside, it was a lovely day. Saw through hikers, campers, hut-goers, and some intrepid souls doing the single day pemi. |
