Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: We saw people rock hopping-but it did not look easy at all. As sual we chose to plow right through the crossings. East Pemi at Lincoln was running at ~410 fps when we started our hike at 6AM. The water was running swiftly but nothing crazy and my six-year old had no problem fording with the use of poles.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Two very large blowdowns in the first mile of Lincoln Woods, blocking trail. Easy to step over. One is a cluster with widowmakers, etc.and is a real mess. The top of a third blowdown slightly further up the trail, only blocking part of trail. Luckily these are not far from the lot as a chainsaw is definitely in order!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: wouldn't take most dogs up the slide, but pretty doable for experienced, agile, fit hiking pups.
Bugs
Bugs: none!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: packed out a small comb thingy

Comments
Comments: Fine day was had grabbing Owly for Margaret's 44/48. Plenty of mud and water still from Friday's rain made for a sloppy day. Water was slightly elevated and we marched through crossings. Black Pond herd path was easy to follow, as was the Brutus herd path. Brutus is a very nice alternative to the slide, although it is still very steep in the middle section. Exponentially easier than the slide as far as technicality goes. We saw a good number of people, including a mom/dad with four boys ages 7-12 who were all nearly done with their 48. Love seeing other kiddos out there getting after it with their parents! Despite having completed my redline recently and having hiked most 4k's 3-7 times, this completed my official 48 as the only other Owl's Head summit I did in 2016 involved a bicycle on Lincoln Woods (cheat mode).
