We saw this hike was in the Southern NH Trail Guide. My back is sooo much better after my surgeries. Hoping to breathe some 4000' air soon. This though was a breeze! The only 'up' was the ladder to the lookout tower. It would make a great family hike. It is less then a 1/3 of a mile each way and ends at a lookout tower. It was the first time we ran into carnivorous plants (Sundew and Pitcher Plant), that had caught their prey. Besides a bog, there is also a rare Atlantic White Cedar Swamp. This one is the most futherest northwestern swamp from the coast where the normally are found. After we hiked it we put in the kayaks to see how far the bog went. We really enjoyed ourselves. We did make a video of our day for anyone interested in seeing the area or the hike itself. Cool Place! |
