Saw one super happy pup with her people family as I came to Deer Hill Road. These trails are fine for dogs. Use your discretion for your pup on Ledge trail. |

Got a spot at 9:15 with no issue. Bathroom on the lot side was real clean and awesome. All trails are in good shape; well traveled trails had the muddier spots, and the lesser traveled trails were dry with nice footbeds. Ledge Trail and I got off on the wrong foot (Ha. Ha.), when I took a good slip where the "bypass" trail came in at the top of the trail. This is an UP trail for the wiser folks out there, I used it to descend from Little Deer because I was trying to bag trails. I was shown the error in my way quickly! If it were dry, probably less issue, but yesterday the area had quite a few downpours. The Deer Hill Bypass and Deer Hill Trail skirt the edges of a logged area, and only crosses the skidder tracks twice just below the junction of the two trails - well marked and easy to see.
The Deer Hills Spring is AMAZING! I had never seen a natural artesian spring before, I watched the bubbles move the sand around for quite a bit!
Didn't miss the Old Man of Deer Hill either! |
