Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Three tricky water crossings - needed to cross the final one on a downed birch tree slightly upstream of the trail. Water was high due to recent precipitation. The upper section (switchbacks of the Garfield Trail) is truly a streambed. I tried to divert some water where I could towards the downhill side of the trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Needs more water bars on the upper sections - lower sections seem to be more effectively drained. Maybe more large rocks to assist with water crossings.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No dogs on trail
Bugs
Bugs: No bugs in the rain

Comments
Comments: Not so bad of a trail - made it up to the Garfield Ridge Tentsite in 2 hours 45 minutes. The lower section rolls over some hills, crosses three streams, has a long straight stretch of moderate climbing, then has a series of four switchbacks leading up to the ridge. It was a little miserable in the rain, but I could tell even in the clouds that the tentsite probably has great views on a clear day. The Garfield summit was clouded in the following day, but impressive nonetheless with the building foundation on top.
