| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Got lucky and snagged a spot in the Ammo lot around 10:30, but there was some hiking event going on so cars were parked up and down the road a fair distance. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |

| Water Crossing Notes: |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The only blowdown we encountered was gone by dinnertime. Thanks to whoever took care of it! |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Several pups out on trails. Just the usual warning to be careful with their paws above treeline because the rocks can be pretty rough. There was one dog that was carried down from the peak of Jefferson. |
| Bugs: |
One, singular black fly that bit me on the top of Clay. |
| Lost and Found: |
Found a hiking pole basket. Meant to leave it at the parking lot kiosk but forgot so it remains in my possession. |

| Comments: |
Our dog needed Jefferson for her 48 but we didn’t feel she could handle the big “wall” section on Caps Ridge so we cooked up this route which was a nice alternative. Caught a gorgeous sunset from the little spot on Jewel just where it breaks out of the trees. The trail softened up a bit in the evening as the dewpoint rose, but the mud was still not bad. We were sort of surprised to not see anyone after leaving Jefferson. If I can figure out the synching issue with my GoPro, pics and vids will be up on Instagram at quantum.moxie soon (I’m a few weeks behind). |
