At least 10 blowdowns on Osseo. Only 1 required slight duck and another a big step. The rest are easily stepped over. Most seem grandfathered as unintentional water bars. |

Three seen. Both owners and doggies were friendly.
7 year old Austrian Shepard dog was both extremely friendly and capable hiking companion. |
|
| Bugs: |
A few blackflies at summit and again near junction of Osseo and Lincoln Woods when I stopped to cool my feet in adjacent stream. |
|

Beautiful blue bird day in the mountains!
Encountered a few Pemi Loop runners. A few day hikers like myself, although many went on to hike Mt Liberty before turning South. Mostly saw backpackers intent on multi day pemi loop adventure.
One backpacker on her way out said 2 nights before (Thursday) Guyot tentside/shelter was packed. Guyot Shelter was stacked with 17 hikers, sardine fashion, sheltering from a sleet/hail storm. Also mentioned that the night before (Friday) at Liberty Springs tent platform no bears were encountered, as the caretaker had scared the bear off the morning before.
Loved seeing the old Moat Volcanics on Flume's summit as well the gardens of flowering, colorful fungi along the Osseo trail. The copious mud in the last 1/3 mile I could do without, but still, it was a great hike in lovely weather. |
