Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Was expecting more people today! Not a single vehicle at the Reed Road trailhead when I pulled in at 9 AM. Just one other when I returned around 2:40 (and I met that hiker on the trail near North Straightback).
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water levels are very low. The major crossing on Mack-Anna Link 0.3 or 0.4 below the summit of Anna was a very easy rock hop. No other crossings.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Only one or two blowdowns on the entire route, and they had been delimbed. Very little mud - trails were the driest I've ever seen them. There's no sign at the eastern junction of Precipice Path and Anna-Straightback Link, but I've never seen a sign there (and I've hiked that section a half-dozen times), and all other signs are in place.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few today. Some minor ledgy areas, but there's always a way to get around them. Very little water on the trail though.
Bugs
Bugs: They were flying around, but they generally didn't bother me.

Comments
Comments: Even though I've redlined all the trails in the Belknaps, I had actually never hiked there in the summer until today (all my previous Belknap hiking had been in the winter and spring). Possibly because of that, the trails were the driest I've ever seen them. Very little mud anywhere, even on that notoriously wet stretch of DRQT between the Quarrys, and the water crossings between Mack and Anna were very low.

Not too much to say, since the trails are in good condition and the rocks are dry. Trails are all well-blazed, and I didn't have any issues following them. Several sections were unexpectedly brushy, particularly on Reed Road Trail, but that's probably a reflection of the time of year. And their brushiness certainly paled in comparison to my adventure on Landing Camp Trail last weekend! I expected it to be busier, but I only saw five other people across the whole hike.
