My first time on this mountain. Met a couple of mt bikers on my way up. Otherwise just the other couple in the car that arrived same time as me on the trail. At first thought the Pike Peak summit (not the view, saved that for on the way down) with a cairn was the summit but then kept going. Lots of ledge to traverse with little scrambles. Think this would be a fun trail for kids. There are a couple of signs along the way - one that says summit with an arrow so you don't think the ledge nearby is it. Summit is marked with a sign sitting in a cairn and just beyond it is a little sign pointing the way to "Newfound View". Definitely worth the loss in elevation to get to it. More expansive view than the Pike's Peak spur. |
