Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The ridge trail is in decent shape, with a little mud here and there, easily bypassed. Right at the "A" peak, there is a large mud pit in the way of going the few yard over to the outlook (lunch spot) that looks over at Carter Dome and the rest of the Carters, and sharply down at the roof of the hut buildings way below. A boulder or two could help here. As it is, there is a lot of foot traffic at the edges, widening this muddy area. I did notice a herd path from the "very top" (with a 3-rock cairn) over to the main trail, which bypasses that mud pit.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: None today
Bugs
Bugs: I didn't use bug repellent, but I may have been nibbled on by one or two over the course of the day. Bugs haven't been really noticeable in recent hikes.

Comments
Comments: Nice hike with a couple of the OTHH group, on a great hiking day - clear skies, very light breeze much of the time, humidity not really bad. It was a really good weather day, between two wet days. Coming back from A to D, we encountered over a dozen AT hikers making their way north.
