Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of parking at the Rattle River Trailhead, being part of the AT and all.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All water crossings were easily rock hoppable. Two are wider and could cause trouble after heavy rains, but they are all clear now.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The Rattle River Trail is well maintained with no issues. The Kenduskeag Trail is overgrown in places and there are numerous patches of mud throughout. I was able to avoid each one with care, but it does take extra time to avoid. One of the boardwalks near the summit is mostly submerged in mud. After a rainfall, I could see that spot being extra tricky.

Comments
Comments: Plenty of AT through hikers going by this time of year. Water available for filtration up until just before the Kenduskeag Trail junction. No water available past that. The summit views are great. The viewpoint about a quarter mile past the summit wasn't worth it in my opinion when compared to the summit itself.
