Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Excellent signage on where you're NOT supposed to park. Parked on the side of the road, where it was allowed. Surprised to see so many cars considering the weather. But there is more to see than the summit of Moosilauke.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Lots of little ones on the side with the switchbacks. Bridged on the other side.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Signs were good. No blowdowns on the switchback side. A few after you pass the 10th Mountain Division Memorial. Evidence of very recent brushing back and removal of blowdowns in progress. Thank you, DOC!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: This one was very good for dogs. And for the first time in a long time there were zero "doggie bags" along the trail. Good work, people!
Bugs
Bugs: A couple of interesting caterpillars. No skeets!

Comments
Comments: Very pleasant woods walk. Good rainy day choice. Only rained the first half hour or so, but the mists were very pretty floating through the green. 10th Mountain Division no longer has a view. We went CCW; easy ascent with the switchbacks. Interesting that this side has a small bridge over every single stream, but the other side does not. John Rand Cabin looks like a nice place to stay; open to the public (some DOC rentals are for Dartmouth folks only).

If we had started several hours earlier and the weather was better, we would have done the Asquam Ridge Trail as well. Descent was pretty, Nice to walk along the river. Bridges are helpful. Remember, they are the one railing only style. A few minor reroutes on the way out.

I selected dry trail, even though it was raining. Looks like it would be dry on sunny days. Checked out the new (to us, hadn't been there in ages) Lodge. Then checked out more info on line, including prices. Looks good!
