| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Old paugus Rd has a big puddle, I got through with Subaru. There were about 6 other cars in lot. Might be tricky, but possible with low clearance. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Upper whiten crossings are shallow, but there aren't rocks for hopping. I didn't explore, just splashed through. The rest were hoppable. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Couple of annoying blowdown going up beeline to paugus. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Didn't see any. Upper old paugus has little climbs. I don't have a dog so no idea if they'd need a boost. |
|
| Bugs: |
Skeeters in the last 0.2 miles. Couple of flies in s. Paugus. |

Did some redlining and whacked to true summit of paugus.
Beeline is really steep. Felt like a shorter Tom wiggens.
Old paugus has some slippery rocks that required care to ascend. Descent might be slow, but I made a loop.
Started the whack from old camp site. It was really thick with tons of blowdown. I got my money's worth. Descent south south west was much cleaner. Hot the trail below South peak right near the spring. Reclimbed and took a nap in the ledges.
Whiten is great for running. Very nice trail bed. |
